If so, we invite you to join our dynamic analysis team. As a Senior Quantitative Analyst (f/d/m), you will independently drive initiatives in pricing, hedging, and risk assessment. You will:
- Build and refine forward curve models for power, gas, CO₂, and renewables, incorporating market fundamentals, seasonality, and dynamics
- Collaborate with meteorologists to design renewable generation forecast models, integrating weather data, reanalysis datasets, and machine learning techniques
- Develop and backtest algorithmic trading strategies
- Implement optimization models for storage and flexibility assets (e.g., batteries, electrolysers, gas and hydrogen storage) to maximize value under market and operational constraints
- Contribute to the development of our portfolio risk evaluation framework
- Design and maintain the infrastructure required for quantitative analysis
- Work closely with DevOps, Risk Management, Meteorology and other teams
- Partner with traders to integrate models and algorithms into daily trading workflows
- Ensure transparent documentation and clear communication of model logic, outputs, and limitations
Your profile:
- Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field
- 5 years’ experience in quantitative modeling within energy trading, commodities, or financial markets
- Strong programming skills (preferably Python), with expertise in time-series modeling, optimization, and machine learning
- Proven ability to implement production-grade quantitative models
- Self-driven and capable of working independently
- Preferred expertise in at least one or two of the following areas:
- Forward curve modeling for energy commodities
- Algorithmic trading strategy development
- Storage and flexibility optimization
- Renewable energy forecasting (wind/solar)
- Pragmatic mindset and a constructive approach to problem-solving
- Excellent command of English; fluency in German is a plus
- Ideally, experience in project management
