Trainee Programme at EWE

Our 24-month trainee programme gives you the opportunity to explor the EWE Group from multiple perspectives. Your individual rotation plan is tailored to your interests, and you’ll receive continuous support along the way. After completing the programme, you’ll have excellent prospects for securing a permanent position.

IT & Digitalisation

As a trainee in IT and Digital Transformation, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the energy sector and play an active role in shaping tomorrow’s energy solutions. Completing the programme opens up excellent opportunities for a permanent position.

Sales

As a Sales trainee at EWE focusing on Sales, you’ll help shape our product innovations and sales models, including those for renewable energy. You’ll explore the full sales and product landscape at EWE and put your entrepreneurial mindset, initiative and creativity into practice. Great prospects for a permanent role await you upon completion.

Engineering

As an Engineering trainee, you’ll work on a variety of projects shaping the future of energy, actively contributing to the energy transition in Germany. Upon completing the programme, you’ll have excellent prospects to step into your ideal role with us.

Your Trainee Journey

Together with you, we’ll develop a customised plan for your 24 months at EWE. You’ll gain insights into many parts of the Group and refine your professional profile based on your focus area and personal interests. Throughout your journey, you’ll be part of a supportive network of trainees and mentors.

  • You typically spend three months per rotation, whether in a department, team or a project.
  • Group-wide assignments, including those outside your area of specialisation, will give you a holistic understanding of the Group.
  • We focus on close contact with our customers and colleagues in the region. This programme also gives you the opportunity to gain experience with our business on site.
  • After each rotation, feedback sessions help you recognise strengths and continue developing your skills.

 

How Does the Application Process Work?
  • You will participate in interdisciplinary networking events and trainee meetings where you connect with specialists and managers from across the Group as well as direct hires from other EWE companies.
  • We arrange joint excursions, for example a tour of the hybrid storage facility in Varel or one of our wind farms. When you visit our branch office in Berlin, you will gain first-hand insight into the discussions around the energy transition.
  • You will also organise a series of “trainees for trainees”-events. Your creativity, organisational skills and interest in innovative topics are essential here because you will be taking an active, independent role in shaping them from conception to implementation.
  • Seminars individually tailored to our trainees (such as communications and conflict and negotiation management) and other targeted personal and professional training courses will help you take responsibility for tasks and projects.

What Kind of Support is Provided During the Trainee Programme?

➔ Buddy:
Second-year trainees take on this role. They help you settle in, show you the ropes, and give you a quick intro to how things work at EWE.

➔ Sponsor:
Your sponsor is your go-to person during your first rotation. They help you get started with the job and share ideas for what your next rotations could look like.

Trainee Program Coordinator:
The coordinators run the trainee program and are there for any questions about planning or organization. Regular check-ins with them help you grow and develop along the way.

➔ Mentor:
From your second year on, you’ll have a mentor — a manager or expert who supports you in developing your skills and shaping your personal and professional growth.

What Are the Prospects After the Programme?

The trainee program opens up many opportunities for you. By working in multiple areas, you’ll build a strong network and gain valuable insights into the Group. Many trainees receive an offer during or immediately after the program or apply for an advertised position. In any case, we’ll actively support your transition into a permanent role.
