Trainee programme at EWE

Apply here to start in April 2022.

Traineeships at EWE – your springboard to the future

Would you like to learn about our Group from different perspectives for a broad overview and help you choose the right direction for you? Then EWE is the right place for you as a trainee.
In 24 months, you will experience the diversity of the EWE Group and have the opportunity to help shape the energy revolution and the rapid developments that are taking place. We offer a focused, individually tailored trainee programme that leaves room for your own ideas and personal development.

Our selection days, during which we can get to know each other better, will take place this year from 17 to 18 November and from 1 to 2 December.
You can apply directly with your desired focus until 23 September 2021.

Q&A

You probably have a lot of questions about the programme, so click through the sub-sections on this page to find out more. Our trainees will also provide a brief introduction to their day-to-day work routine and answer questions about the application process and what they do in the Group:

Support
The right contact person is available for all questions and situations.

We have defined various roles to make sure that you get off to a good start in our trainee programme and that you always have a direct contact person for questions or comments. The function of the individual roles is shown below:

Trainee supervisors:

Our names are Sandra von Garrel and Andreas Reimer-Schönbrunn. We manage the programme and are available for all questions relating to organisation and planning. Our regular contact will support you in your personal development and help you find the placement that’s just right for you.

Sponsor:

I will be there for you during your first placement and will support you in your professional start. I will also suggest ideas for possible placements.

Buddy:

I’m a second-year trainee and will try to help you get started. I'll help you find your way around and explain the EWE basics to you.

Mentor:

I am a manager or expert and I will be at your side from the second year onwards to help you develop your personal and professional skills.

How does the application process work?

After we receive your application, we will review it and invite you to one of our selection days, where you will also meet other applicants, the trainee advisors and specialists and managers from the various departments.

You can expect a day full of varied tasks and interviews during the selection process.
Following the selection days, we will inform you as soon as possible about a possible placement and next steps.

Training plan
  • We will work with you to develop your working plan. Over the course of 24 months, you will get to know many facets of the EWE Group, depending on your focus and personal interests, and hone your profile.
  • You will usually spend about three months in each placement, which may be a department, a specific group or a project.
  • Group-wide assignments, including those outside your area of specialisation, will give you a holistic understanding of the Group.
  • We focus on close contact with our customers and colleagues in the region. This programme also gives you the opportunity to gain on-site experience with our business.
  • After each assignment, feedback sessions help you discover your strengths and further develop your skills. You have access to the trainee supervisors, a sponsor, a mentor and a trainee buddy at all times.
Outlook: What happens after the trainee programme?

The trainee programme offers you many opportunities. As you progress through all of your placements in different parts of the Group, you will be able to make contacts and build your own network. Many of our trainees receive an offer or apply for an advertised position during or after the programme. Whatever you decide to do, we will assist you in the transition process.

Building a strong network!
Events and training courses
Building a strong network
  • You will participate in interdisciplinary networking and trainee meetings where you can talk to specialists and managers from the Group together with direct recruits from other EWE companies.
  • We arrange joint excursions, such as a tour of the hybrid storage facility in Varel or one of our wind power plants. When you visit our branch office in Berlin, you will gain first-hand insight into the discussions around the energy revolution.
  • You will also organise a series of events by trainees for trainees. You can contribute to these energy symposiums with your creativity, organisational talent and interest in innovative topics because you will be taking an active, independent role in shaping these ideas from conception to implementation.
  • Seminars individually tailored to our trainees (such as communications and conflict and negotiation management) as well as further focused personal and professional training courses will help you take on responsibility for tasks and projects.
» We’re looking for a high degree of initiative and the willingness to play an active role in shaping the future!
