In addition, we publish an ESG Fact Sheet containing further relevant sustainability information. We have also made various voluntary commitments and joined several sustainability initiatives. This allows us to communicate our actions transparently and help shape a sustainable future.
Reports and Commitments
Reporting with Future ProspectsAt EWE, we firmly believe that business success cannot be measured solely by financial figures. That's why we report on key economic, environmental, and social sustainability data and indicators in our sustainability report.

In our non-financial statement, we go beyond our strategic direction to report on corporate governance, climate and environmental protection, our workforce, employees in the value chain, consumers and end users, as well as the EU Taxonomy. Alongside the strategies we have developed and embedded in our daily operations, we outline selected decisions and measures taken during the reporting year. We also present our sustainability targets and associated performance indicators, which form the basis for measuring our progress.
Our ESG Fact Sheet provides comprehensive information on key sustainability indicators. Environmental data include greenhouse gas emissions, air pollutants, waste volumes, and energy consumption. Social indicators cover employment structure, diversity, and supply security. In the field of governance, the fact sheet outlines, for example, our activities in donations and sponsorships.
Our Code of Conduct provides the overarching framework for our actions and serves as a binding guideline for the entire EWE Group. It applies to all employees - regardless of position or role - and guides decisions and actions at every level of the organization.
With our Statement of Principles, we affirm our commitment to respecting and upholding human rights. We comply with applicable laws and respect internationally recognized human rights standards in all our business activities. We also strive to proactively prevent potential human rights violations.
We meet our responsibilities and obligations under the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG). In 2024, we published a report detailing our adherence to human rights and environmental standards. Our business partners can access relevant information for their own LkSG risk analyses via the EcoVadis and Integrity Next platforms.

As an energy provider, EWE has committed - along with many other companies - to the climate goals set forth in the Paris Agreement. We aim to contribute to limiting global warming to well below 2°C and to take meaningful steps toward achieving a climate-neutral global economy in the second half of this century.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially validated our emission reduction targets as being aligned with the Paris Agreement. Under the agreement, 195 parties have committed to keeping global warming below 1.5°C.

The SDGs guide our approach to sustainable development. In September 2015, more than 150 countries adopted the United Nations 2030 Agenda to secure a life of dignity for all people by 2030.
We all share the responsibility to achieve these goals—and at EWE, we are committed to playing our part.

EWE has been actively committed to climate protection for many years. We consistently promote a forward-looking, sustainable energy system. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has scientifically validated our greenhouse gas reduction targets: compared to the base year 2018, we aim to reduce emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 65% by 2030, and Scope 3 emissions by over 30% by 2030. These efforts support limiting global warming to 1.5°C (Scopes 1 and 2) and well below 2°C (Scope 3). More about the scopes and our climate strategy can be found here.
SBTi is a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It defines best practices for science-based target setting and independently assesses corporate targets. The validation criteria are continuously updated in line with the latest climate science.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) evaluates how well companies manage environmental challenges and their level of ambition. Since 2024, EWE has participated in the CDP assessment. Through the platform, companies provide extensive data and information, which is then made available for analysis by investors and other stakeholders. CDP Climate Change focuses specifically on climate-related indicators and information.

EcoVadis and Integrity Next are among the leading platforms for assessing sustainability performance.
EWE has chosen to undergo annual evaluations via these platforms to identify areas for improvement and further develop its sustainability efforts. These platforms also allow us to meet the information needs of our stakeholders.
Our business partners can access our sustainability information directly through EcoVadis and Integrity Next.

By endorsing the Diversity Charter, EWE fosters a corporate culture that embraces different perspectives and values. This commitment creates space for reflection, promotes cultural openness, and helps unlock untapped potential that drives successful and sustainable business development.
Almost all companies within the EWE Group have signed the Diversity Charter, demonstrating their dedication to creating an inclusive and prejudice-free working environment for all employees.
