Oldenburg, Germany / Amsterdam, Netherlands, 18 July 2013. The Oldenburg-based energy supplier EWE is selling its Dutch gas exploration and production activities. Its licence interests in the respective fields located on the Dutch continental shelf are being acquired by the exploration and production company Oranje-Nassau Energie B.V. (‘ONE’). Completion of the transaction is anticipated later this year. As part of a strategic focus, EWE has decided to divest its upstream business.
“Although we have enjoyed success in gas exploration and production over the last few decades, it is not one of our core business areas. Furthermore, we do not believe that there is further development potential for us,” said EWE Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Werner Brinker, explaining the decision.
