Oldenburg, Germany, 18 September 2017. Stefan Dohler will soon become Chief Executive Officer of the energy Group EWE AG in Oldenburg, Germany. The 51-year-old will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer, which has been vacant since February, as soon as possible, at the latest by 1 April 2018. The Supervisory Board of EWE AG appointed Dohler when they convened today.

“EWE is well positioned to perform well in the energy world, an industry which is currently in a state of transition. The company maintains close ties to its customers, understands the needs of its region and is always coming up with innovative ideas, whether it’s dealing with electricity grids, wind energy or the expansion of a groundbreaking fibre optic network,” says Dohler. “I’m happy to have the opportunity to incorporate my experience from the energy industry into such an exciting and innovative company. The move from Hamburg is no distance at all, and I’m closer to the fresh sea air here. I’m curious about the region and the people here, and of course am looking forward to meeting my new colleagues at EWE.”

Stefan Dohler started his career in 1998 at the Hamburg energy supplier HEW, one of the predecessor companies of Vattenfall. Since then, he has held a number of leadership positions in the areas of finance, networks, products and markets. In 2012 he became a member of the Executive Management Team of the Vattenfall Group. He is currently the CFO of Vattenfall AB in Stockholm, Sweden.

Bernhard Bramlage, Chairman of the EWE Supervisory Board says: “We’re happy to have recruited such an excellent specialist and proven leader as Stefan Dohler. In his previous position, he pushed forward future-oriented topics, which the EWE Group is similarly pursuing. We look forward to working together.”

The Managing Director of the EWE association, Heiner Schönecke, clarifies: “For us as communal shareholders, it was very important that we find a new Chief Executive Officer who was able to develop our communal interests locally while also continuing to further expand innovative topics for the future for our customers. Stefan Dohler ticks all these boxes. We’re looking forward to our successful collaboration.”

Stefan Dohler was born in 1966 and holds a Master of Science (Dipl.-Ing) in aviation and aerospace technology, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
