Bernhard Bramlage is new EWE Supervisory Board Chairman

Schönecke, Wimberg and Deters elected as Deputy Chairmen

Oldenburg, Germany, 31 May 2017. The Supervisory Board of EWE AG elected Bernhard Bramlage as the new Chairman in its meeting held today. He succeeds Dr Stephan-Andreas Kaulvers, who left the Supervisory Board this month. Bernhard Bramlage was previously the third Deputy Chairman of the committee. As second Deputy Chairman Heiner Schönecke, Member of the Landtag of Lower Saxony, has been reappointed, new third Deputy Chairman is Johann Wimberg, district adimistrator of Landkreis Cloppenburg, new fourth Deputy Chaiman of the Supervisory Board is Henning R. Deters, CEO of Gelsenwasser AG.

“I thank my colleagues on the Supervisory Board of EWE AG for their confidence”, said Bernhard Bramlage. “EWE is without doubt in a challenging situation. We have major tasks ahead of us, which we will approach together decisively, looking clearly ahead, taking the care required and implementing the right measures. The work of the Board of Management and Supervisory Board must focus on the further development of a company with over 9,000 employees. An additional challenge, however, is the detailed and implicit clarification of the current indications of instances of misconduct. We have initiated the necessary steps towards clarification and will draw the right conclusions, allowing us to move forward with renewed strength in future.”

No decision was taken in today’s meeting regarding the refilling of the currently vacant Board of Management posts. “The necessary steps have been taken towards finding replacements”, said the new Supervisory Board Chairman. “And we will ultimately make the right decisions for the company, its employees and our many customers”.

Bernhard Bramlage has been on the Supervisory Board of EWE AG since 2012. Following his legal clerkship in Konstanz, the 67-year-old law graduate was a town clerk in Delmenhorst and Northeim, in addition to other positions. In 2001, the residents of the district of Leer elected Bernhard Bramlage district administrator. He was confirmed in this office in two elections and remained at the top level of the district of Leer until stepping down at the end of October last year.
