You probably have a lot of questions about the programme. Click through the subheadings on this page. In addition, our trainees provide you with a brief introduction to their day-to-day work and answer questions about the application process and what they do in the Group:

What kind of support is provided during the trainee programme?

In our trainee programme, the right contact person is available for all questions and situations. We have defined various roles to make sure that you get off to a good start and that you always have a direct contact person for questions or comments. You can see the function of the individual roles below:

➔ Buddy:
I’m a second-year trainee and will try to help you get started. I'll help you find your way around and explain the EWE basics to you.

➔ Sponsor:
I will be there for you during your first placement and will support you in your professional start. I will also suggest ideas for possible placements.

➔ Trainee supervisors:
Our names are Sandra von Garrel and Sara Heinemann. We manage the programme and are available for all questions relating to organisation and planning. Our regular discussions will support your personal development and help you find the right destination.

➔ Mentor:
I am a manager or expert and will be at your side from the second year onwards to help you develop your personal and professional skills.

How does the application process work?

After we have received your application, we'll review it and invite you to one of our selection days, where you'll also get to know other applicants, the trainee supervisors, and specialists and managers from individual departments. You can expect a day full of varied tasks and interviews during the selection process.

Selection days, when we get to know each other, will take place in mid-December 2023 and January 2024 for entry in April 2024.

Following the selection days, we will inform you as soon as possible about a possible placement and next steps.

What does the trainee programme involve?
  • We will work with you to develop your plan of action. Over the course of 24 months, you will get to know many facets of the EWE Group and hone your profile, depending on your focus and personal interests.
  • You usually spend three months in each placement, which could be a department, a specific group or a project.
  • Group-wide assignments, including those outside your area of specialisation, will give you a holistic understanding of the Group.
  • We focus on close contact with our customers and colleagues in the region. This programme also gives you the opportunity to gain experience with our business on site.
  • After each assignment, feedback sessions help you discover your strengths and further develop your skills. You have access to the trainee supervisors, a sponsor, a mentor and a trainee buddy at all times.
What prospects do I have after the trainee programme with EWE?

The trainee program opens up many opportunities for you. As you pass through many different stations during the program, you can make contacts and build up your own network. Many trainees receive an offer during or after the program or apply for an advertised position. In any case, we will support you in the takeover process.

A strong network!

  • You will participate in interdisciplinary networking and trainee meetings where you can talk to specialists and managers from the Group together with direct recruits from other EWE companies.
  • We arrange joint excursions, such as a tour of the hybrid storage facility in Varel or one of our wind power plants. When you visit our branch office in Berlin, you will gain first-hand insight into the discussions around the energy revolution.

  • You will also organise a series of events by trainees for trainees. You bring your creativity, organisational talent and interest in innovative topics to these energy symposiums because you will be taking an active, independent role in shaping them from conception to implementation.
  • Seminars individually tailored to our trainees (such as communications and conflict and negotiation management) and other targeted personal and professional training courses will help you take responsibility for tasks and projects.

We’re looking for a high degree of initiative and the willingness to play an active role in shaping the future!
