Diversity at EWE

Diversity on all levels

Diversity in our workforce opens up rich potential for the use of different skills and talents, and it's an important basis for cooperation.

Our goal is to include and leverage diverse perspectives based on respect for all employees, without regard to their personality, gender, nationality or ethnic background, religious beliefs, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, or identity. EWE is committed to fostering positive awareness of diversity in our company, providing information, and of course, embodying diversity in our actions. Our employees firmly embrace this diversity and live it every day.

EWE is part of the German Diversity Charter

With its commitment to the Diversity Charter, EWE creates opportunities to consider and further develop cultural issues and personal attitudes, to address challenges and to change together with employees in such a way that previously untapped potential for successful economic development opens up. Nearly all companies in the EWE Group have signed the Diversity Charter and are committed to creating cooperation among all colleagues that is free of prejudice.

Diversity workshops, keynotes and more

By engaging in various initiatives on the theme of diversity – for example, in our diversity workshops, at events and panel debates, and in internal and external communication channels – we ensure that diversity at EWE is tangible. Our board members also actively advocate this topic, regularly speaking about it in keynotes and panel discussions – at venues such as Zukunft Personal Europe, the Congress of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), the Handelsblatt Annual Meeting, and at academic institutions including colleges and universities.

Diversity is a lived experience at EWE

Diversity as a "lived experience" can be seen directly in the individual units at EWE: it's obvious that teams that reflect a wide variety of perspectives are more likely to be a mirror of society, so they can find better solutions for EWE's customers. The Group defines the dimensions of diversity a little more broadly than they are traditionally defined in the Diversity Charter. The sheer number of different occupations that all work under our roof create abundant diversity. This is further enriched by the unique talents and capabilities that each person contributes beyond their specific job function. Our reorganised talent management programme, our EWE Labour Market of the Future (Arbeitsmarkt Zukunft EWE - AZE), and collaboration with other businesses as part of the Opportunities Alliance all contribute to this.
