Stefan Dohler to remain head of EWE for five more years

The Supervisory Board extended the CEO’s mandate until the beginning of 2028 /
Chief Human Resources Officer Marion Rövekamp announced her departure at the end of her contract

Oldenburg, Germany. Continuity at the top of EWE’s Board of Management: Today, the Supervisory Board of EWE AG extended the contract of CEO Stefan Dohler for a further five years. “The company’s clear orientation towards climate protection and digital participation, sustainable cooperation for the expansion of fibre-optic infrastructure and wind energy on land as well as the strong momentum for the establishment of the hydrogen economy in northern Germany – all of that is closely tied to Stefan Dohler,” comments Bernhard Bramlage, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, regarding the decision. Even under the more difficult conditions created by the coronavirus pandemic and those arising from the current war in Ukraine, the Board of Management led by Stefan Dohler maintains its focus on the goals set, pursues the security of supply in the region – particularly now – as its top priority and continues to actively shape the future of the company. “As a company predominantly owned by local government, EWE plays a special role in combining the necessary transformation to green technologies with high security of supply standards and the modern, affordable provision of public utilities, which the people in the region have been used to receiving from us for decades. We want to continue on this successful road with Stefan Dohler in the lead – and have contractually laid the foundation for this,” continues Bramlage. 

Stefan Dohler (55) has been CEO of EWE AG since January 2018. 

Chief Human Resources Officer Rövekamp (60) has made the decision not to pursue a contract extension and will leave EWE in the spring of 2023 as per the terms of her contract. “I am thankful to Marion Rövekamp for her work up until now and the early clarity provided, which gives us the possibility to find a replacement in good time,” says Bramlage. As Chief Human Resources Officer and responsible for Legal Affairs, Rövekamp’s activities at EWE provided important momentum for the further development of the company in terms of staff, promoted the balance of work and family and fostered the advancement of women in management positions.
