EWE acquires a stake in sovanta AG

Energy supplier acquires a ten per cent stake in software company specialising in business innovation and simplification

Heidelberg/Oldenburg, Germany, 6 April 2016. In a move announced by both companies on Wednesday in Heidelberg, EWE AG (based in Oldenburg) will own ten per cent of the shares of sovanta AG (based in Heidelberg) and additionally enter into a strategic partnership with this specialist provider of innovative business apps. The aim is to streamline business processes, mobilise IT applications and develop digital services and products for EWE. Neither company commented on the purchase price.

“In sovanta AG, we have found a strong partner to help us meet the challenges of a digitalised energy sector – whilst acquiring a promising interest in a fast-growing company,” explained Matthias Brückmann, Chief Executive Officer of EWE AG. He added that the software specialist has already had success in other industries with its complete solutions for simplifying and mobilising business applications. “We want to work together to harness this expertise for the challenges we face, both now and in the future,” continued Brückmann.
