Oldenburg, Germany, 16 April 2015. The Supervisory Board of EWE AG (Oldenburg) has appointed Michael Heidkamp (48) – currently the managing director of Westfalen Weser Energie GmbH & Co. KG – as its new Director of Sales and Marketing. He is scheduled to assume responsibility for the division at the beginning of autumn, replacing Matthias Brückmann, who will become the new EWE CEO in October.
“The appointment of Michael Heidkamp fills the last vacant EWE Board position with a proven sales expert who, thanks to the various stages of his career, has a thorough understanding both of the energy business and telecommunications,” said Dr. Stephan-Andreas Kaulvers, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EWE AG.
“I look forward to being able to contribute my experience and expertise to EWE, to play a part in shaping the company’s future. It is widely accepted that the entire energy industry is facing new challenges not least because of the energy turnaround and also that the competitive environment is getting tougher and tougher. Among other things, this calls for new sales strategies. In addition to traditional energy sales, EWE is increasingly focusing on energy services and is, I believe, therefore on course to overcome the challenges of the future,” said Michael Heidkamp.
Michael Heidkamp, who was born in Herford, has a degree in economics and started his career with an audit firm. In 1997, he moved to Elektrizitätswerk Minden-Ravensberg GmbH in Herford, which subsequently merged with E.ON Westfalen Weser AG. That same year, working as a commercial authorised signatory, he played a part in building up the regional telecommunications provider Teleos GmbH & Co. KG. Heidkamp then served as the company’s sole managing director from March 2001 to April 2005.
In May 2005, he was made head of the Business Customer and Partner Sales division at E.ON Westfalen Weser AG and became a member of the Management Board there in 2006. E.ON Westfalen Weser AG was dissolved in 2013 and was acquired by Westfalen Weser Energie GmbH & Co. KG, since when Michael Heidkamp has been the company’s sole managing director. He is married and has two children.
