Dr. Urban Keussen is EWE AG's new Chief Technical Officer
The Board of Management of the Oldenburg utility company will soon be complete once again
Oldenburg, Germany, 27 November 2017. Dr. Urban Keussen is to take up the position of Chief Technical Officer at the utility company EWE AG (Oldenburg). Dr. Keussen (52) is currently Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management of the Dutch transmission network operator, TenneT, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of its German subsidiary, TenneT TSO. The Supervisory Board of EWE AG appointed Keussen at a meeting held today, and he is expected to join the company on 1 March 2018.
Dr. Keussen comments: “I am delighted to be taking up this position in Oldenburg, since EWE has an excellent reputation in the industry in general – not least on account of its technical operations. Due to my current management role, where I am in charge of upstream networks, I am aware that the challenges associated with the energy turnaround are particularly noticeable here in northwest Germany. To date, EWE has responded confidently to these challenges and, with its enera project, it is looking far ahead into the future while also focusing on the opportunities offered by digitalisation. It is imperative to continue down this path.”
Keussen began his career in 1993 at Preussen Elektra, where he was appointed head of its technical division before joining the E.ON group in 2000. Here, among other roles, he was managing director of E.ON NETZ and, ultimately, head of the technology and innovation division at E.ON’s holding company. He took up his current position in 2014. Urban Keussen was born in 1964 and holds a doctorate in applied physics from the University of Kiel. He is married and has three children.
Bernhard Bramlage, Chairman of the EWE Supervisory Board, says: “We are delighted to have recruited a highly experienced manager in Dr. Keussen to serve as EWE’s Chief Technical Officer. With his many years of expertise in various well-known energy and infrastructure companies, we are optimally prepared for future challenges in this field.”
