VNG: partner in the natural gas market
Germany based VNG (Verbundnetz Gas AG) is an importer of natural gas active across Europe. EWE AG has a 47.9 per cent holding in the company. The other shareholders are VNG - Verbundnetz Gas Verwaltungs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbh (25.79%), Wintershall Holding AG (15.79%), Gazprom Germania (5.26%) and EEG Erdgas Transport GmbH (5.26%). VNG holds participations in over 50 domestic and overseas companies, both directly and through its three wholly owned holding companies. The company has its headquarters in Leipzig.VNG’s core business is importing natural gas and supplying it to high-volume clients, including municipal utilities, regional suppliers, industrial companies and natural gas trading and transport companies.
VNG not only transports natural gas in the east of Germany, it also organises transport in other European networks. VNG’s subsidiary ONTRAS – VNG Gastransport GmbH acts as a logistics partner for natural gas trading and transport companies.
VNG is also involved in natural gas storage and as such makes a significant contribution to securing Germany’s supply. Further, VNG supports its customers in optimising business processes and ensuring that gas facilities operate reliably by providing other energy and marketing services, as well as a range of consulting and cooperation services
