Hanover trade fair: Minister President Christian Wulff pays a visit to the EWE stand/podium discussion about Germany as a research location
“World-class research impossible without industry”, says EWE boss Brinker
Hanover, Germany, 21 April 2008. Today the Minister President of Lower Saxony Christian Wulff and renowned representatives from the fields of science and economics discussed issues such as the state of (energy) research in Germany, the importance of regional centres for world-class research on a national level and the role of the industry in research.
“Peak performance in research and development is the key to energy supply in the future. Thanks to an excellent scientific infrastructure and strong commercial enterprises, the state of Lower Saxony is at the top in the renewable energies segment” explained Christian Wulff, Minister President of Lower Saxony.
“The changes which we are facing in the way our energy is supplied mean that science, politics and the industry have to close ranks. There is no way to solve the central problems in research and development without dedicated commercial enterprises”, said Dr. Werner Brinker, the Chairman of the EWE Management Board. He held up the EWE Research Centre for Energy Technology, a joint initiative of EWE, the state of Lower Saxony and Oldenburg University, as a prime example of such cooperation.
During the discussion, Dr. Mlynek, the president of the Helmholtz Association, stressed that “regional research centres are certainly important, but Germany needs to concentrate its energies more on a national level as well if it doesn’t want to lose its place as a global research leader.”
The EWE Group will be represented at the Hanover trade fair from 21 - 25 April (Hall 13, Stand C30). As innovators in the energy industry, EWE will be presenting their views on energy efficiency, energy saving and renewable energy under the motto “Energy. Vision. Future”.
