EWE: Dr. Werner Brinker CEO until 2013


Oldenburg, Germany, December 14, 2007 – Dr. Werner Brinker, 55, was re-elected Chief Executive Officer for an additional five-year term at to-day’s EWE AG, Oldenburg, Supervisory Board meeting. He will continue as CEO until September 2013; his present term ends in September 2008.

As CEO, Brinker is in charge of the EWE Group’s strategic focus, energy trading and sales, services, and research and development. In addition, he is responsible for marketing, corporate communications, and legal affairs in the Group. He has almost 29 years of experience in the energy industry and was appointed CEO in 1998. Brinker began his career at EWE AG in 1978. Starting in 1980 he was responsible for gas procurement. In 1988 he took over development of the waste management division and was granted full power of attorney in 1992. He studied civil engineering at Braun¬schweig Technical University, where he obtained his doctorate in 1990.

Brinker has been President of the German Electricity Association (VDEW) since 2002 and since the fall of 2007, President of the newly founded Federal Association of Energy and Water Management (BDEW), Berlin. In 2006 he won the Energy Manager of the Year award and in 2007, was appointed Chairman of the Forum for Future Energy in Berlin. He is married and has two daughters.
