LEV and EEW join forces

Oldenburg, October 31, 2006. The EWE shareholders have joined forces. From immediate effect the Landeselektrizitätsverband Oldenburg (LEV) and the Energieverband Elbe-Weser (EEW) are to join forces to form the Ems-Weser-Elbe Versorgungs- und Entsorgungsverband. The merger is to be effected so that the EEW is wound up on November 1, 2006 and its association members join the LEV. The merger was unanimously agreed at the end of April by the members of both associations.

The merger of LEV and EEW enables more flexible decision-making and more efficient coordination processes as regards the focus of the EWE company. “The merger of both associations means that we are very well positioned to pursue the further development of EWE. The merger has shown all doubters, and in no uncertain terms, that we are all of one opinion and are not disunited as claimed in some quarters”, stressed Günther Boekhoff, Managing Director of LEV.
