Natural gas customers in Eisenhüttenstadt can now change provider
EWE creates competition on the natural gas market
Oldenburg / Strausberg, November 14, 2006. Natural gas customers in Eisenhüttenstadt can now switch natural gas supplier. The energy provider EWE AG is now also offering natural gas in Eisenhüttenstadt. The company is thus expanding its sales territory in Brandenburg and is actively venturing into competition on the natural gas market. This was announced by the Chairman of the Management Board, Dr. Werner Brinker in an interview this evening with Radio Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb). Anybody changing to EWE in this month can already take advantage of the more favorable natural gas provided by EWE from January 1, 2007.
“Anybody switching to us, is saving hard cash” said Brinker. The EWE gross price was 0.28 cents cheaper per kilowatt hour than the local municipal works in Eisenhüttenstadt. A single household with an average annual consumption of 25,000 kilowatt hours would therefore save more than 80 euros a year. The switch to EWE would be child’s play. Calling 01801/000650 would be sufficient. The experience gleaned over 17 years of natural gas supply in Brandenburg had already made EWE a well-known brand, said Brinker. This and the perceptibly lower price made him feel confident that several hundred customers would switch to EWE in the coming months.
“The competition is a chance for us” said Brinker explaining the company's decision. The EWE price was among the lowest in the country. This is why EWE was ideally positioned to win over new customers following the opening of the natural gas market. How active EWE would become in other regions, would be decided on a case to case basis, said Brinker. EWE would have to be able to offer an adequate service in the field and cheaper prices in the region in question.
