EWE issued €500 million bond


Oldenburg, 8 July 2009. The Oldenburg-based energy company EWE yesterday issued a bond with a volume of 500 million Euro and a twelve year maturity. The bond was met with a very high level of investor interest and heavily oversubscribed.

The bond has a minimum denomination of 1,000 Euro and carries a coupon of 5.25 per cent . It was issued at a price of 98.976 per cent. Joint bookrunners are Calyon, Commerzbank, HSBC und The Royal Bank of Scotland.

With the transaction EWE intends to optimise its maturity profile. EWE CFO Michael Wagener: „After a five year absence from the bond market we are pleased to benefit from a good market environment and could successfully place a bond once more.”

The bookrunning banks were accompanied by the following co-lead managers: Helaba, LBBW, UniCredit, Bremer Landesbank, Landessparkasse zu Oldenburg and Oldenburgische Landesbank.
