EWE’s Rüdersdorf storage facility has room for 200 million cubic metres of natural gas
By the end of 2007 EWE has put a first natural gas cavern into operation in a subterranean salt dome in Rüdersdorf, Brandenburg. The facility near Berlin can store up to 40 million cubic metres of natural gas. A further cavern with a planned storage volume of app. 75 million cubic metres is currently being flushed out.
The salt dome in Rüdersdorf provides an opportunity to build a total of four caverns a geometric volume of 1.5 million cubic metres. That makes it possible to store almost 200 million cubic metres of natural gas.
