NEXT ENERGY – Research on the energy of the future

As a leading German energy company, EWE recognises its responsibility to society. An important issue in this context is the sustainable energy supply of the future, which the company has been investigating for several years. The questions surrounding this issue have made the Group into a pioneer in the area of environmentally friendly technologies.

EWE’s commitment to energy research in Germany constitutes a major part of this responsibility, as the challenges faced by our energy supply can only be overcome by means of technological advancement. For this purpose, EWE founded NEXT ENERGY, the EWE Research Centre for Energy Technology together with Oldenburg University. Around 60 research staff members conduct research here into renewable energies, energy efficiency and energy storage. NEXT ENERGY is working on developing materials, components, systems and production technologies for photovoltaics, fuel cells and energy storage facilities.

NEXT ENERGY is an independent affiliated institute of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. The research centre is thus perfectly positioned to set the pace for energy technology and make a positive contribution to the interests of regional, national and international companies.
