Assumption 4: E3 – energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energies
To counter these trends, fossil fuels in particular must be deployed as efficiently as possible. We also need to introduce low consumption household devices to the market and make greater use of renewable energies.
The global population is growing, along with material standard-of-living expectations and the worldwide demand for energy. This is leading to conventional primary energy sources becoming ever scarcer. Energy prices are on the increase and the Earth’s atmosphere is increasingly full of trace gases.
EWE’s plan for a future-proof European and German energy industry is dubbed “E3”:
- efficiency in the production of energy
- energy efficiency and conservation on the consumption side
- greater use of renewable energies as part of a balanced and sustainable energy mix
